Volunteer Sewers Needed

Hello, do you have sewing skills? If so would you be prepared to offer an hour or so of your time to help sew reusable menstruation kits as part of our participation in Days For Girls. We meet on the first Saturday of every month between 10am and 4pm to sew these vital and life-changing kits so girls and women can manage their menstruation cycle with dignity, ensuring their health and wellbeing.

Women menstruate; it is a mark of womanhood. In some countries and cultures the stigma surrounding this natural event means girls and woman are humiliated, shunned and uncared for at these recurring moment of need in their life. Days For Girls is spearheading a change, bringing not only sustainable management of menstruation but healthcare and education to many regions on our planet. Furthermore they establish the facility to manufacture and distribute this beautiful little kits within the countries and regions where they are needed. Until all women, no matter where they are, have the fundamental right to access menstruation materials, women in cultures and countries where these necessities are taken for granted are sewing kits to support the wonderful work of the Days For Girls program.

If you would like to volunteer an hour or more of your time to sew these kits, we provide all tools, notions, patterns, trims and materials so you can just turn up and be part of a happy group of people making a small but vital contribution to this wonderful cause. If you are unable to sew but would like to contribute, there are other jobs like cutting out, finishing and packing that you can do. If you would like to learn to sew, in order to contribute, we can arrange to teach you sewing skills free of charge in return for your time towards making kits. Please get in touch with us to enquire.
