New

I tend to follow my instincts, just get up and have my day; that has always served me well and it is an stress-free existence. One of the results is constant new horizons, when you do not feel your limitations, they tend to have no influence. For many years I have been interested in learning to make jewellery. I actually do not wear jewellery, nor do I support the human pain and suffering the extraction of precious metals and gemstones visits on millions of people. Not just those who work in slave-like conditions to raise the material from the earth but the millions who suffer as their countries natural resources are plundered for the enrichment of a few. So why then jewellery? It is an area of design that brings forth some exquisite pieces; that can elevate something to a level not easily achieved in other ways. I want to have unique pieces to compliment or challenge my work in textiles; let’s see if I can achieve it. And, if so, if I can achieve it in a way that I approve of!

I have been taking some private lessons, but that teacher has not quite cut the mustard. I have therefore enrolled on a college course and am looking forward to learning the techniques and skills to produce my own work in metal. Level 1 completes in February 2024.

As a designer I enjoy the time I spend developing ideas and creating beautiful things. As a human being I enjoy the time I spend developing myself.
