When is the offer of help not helpful? When it is seemingly not genuine. A fiercely independent entity, the Design and Sewing Studio is built on the foundation of a genuine love for the industry, incredible skill, long experience and a desire to live a creative life with freedom. As such we normally manufacture our own projects and the associated solutions required to achieve them. Recently we decided a wider knowledge of the local manufacturing facilities to get our children’s collection made in Britain but not in-house would be helpful. So when an E-mail dropped into our in-box shouting ‘Make Manufacturing Easy’ rather than delete it, which is our default position, on a whim I decided to ‘see what it was all about’. Like so many things in the textile industry it turned out to be a whole lot of nothing-at-the-end-of-it!

So we have decided to open our own CMT facility, we will expand to accommodate our increased manufacturing needs, who knows we may even offer to make other peoples work! The ball is rolling, we have agreed a new space in our existing location, it is 3 times the size if our current atelier, which we will be keeping because we love it. We get the space at the beginning of March. Following 2 months of refurbishment we will then have a fantastic facility and begin manufacturing the first collection in May/June 2022.
