Great New Studio
Now the space is taking shape with the end in sight our attention can return to our day job. We have our original beautiful atelier so we have been working throughout the development and have even found the time to work with some artists and fellow creatives on the first collection, due A/W 2023. It is stunning and we are excited to launch it. The ethos of slow fashion that is the foundation of our individual practices will also inform our collection offerings. All garments will be made to order, all fabrics locally/responsibly sourced, ethically produced. Each piece is made in-house from design to finished garment, there will be no printed labels, no unnecessary packaging or shipping and all fabric off cuts will be used to create our ‘little charms’. These are stunning little packages are produced while teaching people to sew and are sold to raise money to offer free training.
We are much more than designer who make clothes. Our belief is that creative process is life-affirming. On a personal level we do what we love for a job, it is part of our wider lives and a very positive way to make a living. However we also know the opportunities it can offer to others. We need people to sew our garments, to assist with every stage of development and manufacture. It is a beautiful skill to have, and undertaking a creative pursuit to earn a living is something many in our society would greatly benefit from. As such we are proud to offer our skills and training to people who may never otherwise get the opportunity to work in an industry we love. Homelessness or surviving domestic abuse can be the lowest point in a person’s life, moving beyond such experiences can seem impossible but we intend to combine another human experience we should all be ashamed exists to create the opportunity to offer wonderful opportunities. More later this year.
